Are you a Mountain Goat?


The Mountain Goat we are searching for has a certain number of very distinguishable charcteristics.
As a member of the GRT Mountain Goat Search party you should be aware of a few things:

1. We are searching for a Goat of a certain age
as a official searcher you will need to search with your respective age group.
What is your age group?  
Your age group is determined by How old you are on January 1, 2013. 

For example, if you are  39 on  January 1, 2013 , You will race at the 35-39 age group for the remainder of the series. Even if your birthday is the following week.  

GRT 2013  Search for the Mountain Goat Series age groups:
for both Short Course And Long Course 
18-19, 20-24,  25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 and Above.+


2. This season we will search for our goat in  New regions 
SC, NC, va


3. the mountain goat we are searching for is very fast and has lots of endurance.
THis Year we will search on two course lengths.

 Long  Course,   We are asking that searcers helping on the long course have lots of endurance training before signing up.

Short Course,   We know our goat is fast, so we will need people that are also fast to join in the search. Also,  if you are new to running trails, then you should do fine with the short course.  be aware that there may be course time limits.

*Important: It is very important to know that if you run a long course in a race, you only get long course points.  Likewise. if you run a short course in a race, you will only collect short course points. There is no "mixing" of points to decide  regional age group winners.

 

 so the search party must also be made up of people that:

* are phiscally able to Run mountain trails-

make sure you know what you are getting in to. Most of the trails have some serious elevation gains, go deep into the forest, to the tops of mountain peaks, and through  mountain streams. You must be able to fend off anything mother nature throws your way.  Be aware that there may be time limits for official race times.
 
* are in really good shape-

 its ok if this is your first time on the trails, however, you need to already be an experienced runner. .


4. Our Goat likes to collect a lot of series points

GRT 2013 Search for the Mountain Goat SERIES POINTS- 

• 1st - 100                        * In areas with 3 or more searches 
• 2nd - 99                          we will count your best 2 Scores & 
• 3rd- 98                          drop your lowest score, should  
• 4th - 97                          you do more than 2. 
• 5th - 96
• 6th - 95                          In areas  with  2 searches     
• 7th - 94                          two scores count
• 8th - 93                            
• 9th - 92
• 10th - 91
• and so on until there are no points

5.>    In case of  regional age group ties we will look at head to head matchups. If no winner can be determined in the regional age group then both winners from that regional age group will be given an invitation to the final race. 

6. Our goat likes to be invited to great parties
  The top two age group winners from each regional "mini series" , short and long course, will be given an invatation to a great series ending Race.   Questions? please refer to our F.A.Q section to help answer some answers to popular questions.
